February 4 2010 at Big 'D' Toastmasters = Mardi Gras!

It was another great meeting last night, and I think we've discovered a formula:
Big "D"'s recipe for Personal Development and Fun:- 1 part Dallas' oldest Toastmasters club
- 1 part Veteran Toastmaster
- 2 parts Mardi Gras theme
- 8 welcomed visitors
- 4 good speeches
Bake for about 2 hours at starting 6:30pm and you've got a fun and educational Thursday night.

Two weeks ago John Lawson told us in his speech that by following a proven recipe, you can expect to get consistent results. If that's true (and it is), then we should write this down for future reference. Last night was another great meeting. How about a few highlights:
- We welcomed Cliff Hutchinson back from an extended absence, and things just seemed a little more "back to normal" for it.
- We welcomed 8 new visitors, 2 of which were returning from previous visits and decided to join the club. Welcome to Brad and Dan!
- Julian gave his ice breaker (first Toastmaster's speech) and made it clear that he's "got skills".
- Danni showed us (once again) that she knows how to leverage Mardi Gras for a fun theme for the evening, King Cake and all
Next week is the club's bi-annual speech contest which should be interesting and entertaining, just in a different format. We've got a good slate of tentative speakers lined up, so please mark Thursday night at 6:30pm on your calenar (DoubleTree Hotel, Central Expwy and NW Highwy).
