Welcome!  So 2010 got started in fine fashion at Big "D" last night and, chilly temps notwithstanding, about 25 of us made it to the meeting and I think it's fair to say a good time was had by all!

Our first meeting of the new year was led admirably by our newly re-elected President Steve Patterson, who served as Toastmaster of the evening.    Steve chose "Decade in Review" for a theme which gave everyone a chance to reflect on where we've been, and start to think about what we've each got in mind for the next 10 years.   If you missed John Lawson's entertaining table topic on the subject, let's just say he's keeping things in perspective.  :)

We had 4 guests (always welcome!), a good ice breaker speech, and interesting speech from a rapidly-improving Frank Kozel, an entertaining and informative perspective on public relations at Big "D" from veteran Jim Wolff and a preliminary look from yours truly (albeit just a taaaad long) about plans to redesign our website to try to take it, and Big "D's" web presence, to the next level.

Other highlights included a good inspirational opening by Keri where she reminded us to live "in the moment" because that's really all we've got.   Linda Martin did a fine job as presiding officer over the business meeting, and Danni pitched in with what I thought would be a "Cliff-ing" of the presiding officer (don't ask), but turns out her motion to get smaller chairs was actually well received.  Finally, the speech evaluations were solid all the way around.

Based on the latest schedule I've seen, next week (Thurs, Jan 14) we'll enjoy Mac's leadership as Toastmaster (selling the boat? say it isn't so!).   Guaranteed to be another fun evening at Big "D", where "a good time is sure to be had by all".

-Mike
