Name: Danielle First joined Toastmasters: November 2007 Why did you first look into joining Toastmasters? I wanted to practice giving presentations and speaking in large meetings. What were your concerns or apprehensions about first visiting a club or joining as a member? I thought that the people and the material would be boring; I imagined endless business-oriented PowerPoint presentations. Boy, was I wrong! What was your actual experience compared to your apprehension? I had a great time the first time I attended as a visitor. Everyone was laughing and having a blast. I resolved to join Toastmasters before the end of that first meeting. What caused you to actually join? I needed to practice presentations and so on, plus my experience as a visitor was very enjoyable. The people seemed so warm, welcoming, and witty that I could not resist. Why did you join Big "D" Toastmasters? It was the first search result on Google. What is different about Toastmasters compared to what you initially thought ? See above (Actual experience.) What is the most valuable thing you have received from Toastmasters? It is a fun, friendly, comfortable environment in which to receive very nurturing critiques and comments. If someone were considering joining Toastmasters and they asked you "Why Toastmasters?" What would you tell them? See above (Actual experience) If someone had decided to join Toastmasters and they asked you "Why Big "D" Toastmasters?" What would you tell them? Because it HAS to be the best group in town. I can’t imagine anything that could be better. |
