First joined Toastmasters: April, 2007
Why did you first look into joining Toastmasters?
I am a professional speaker and people that I really respect in my business recommended that I join for my professional growth.
What were your concerns or apprehensions about first visiting a club or joining as a member?
First, was the time committed and secondly was the club a "fit" for me.
What was your actual experience compared to your apprehension?
I actually visited 6 clubs before joining "Big D". None of the clubs I visited prior to Big "D" Toastmasters seemed like the right "fit," for me.
What caused you to actually join?
I was committed to join ... the question was ... which group.
Why did you join Big "D" Toastmasters?
The energy, the friendship, the high caliber of professionals, the humor and the fun and at the same time the club abided by the rules and procedures of the Toastmasters Guidelines.
What is different about Toastmasters compared to what you initially thought?
I didn’t have any real perceived thoughts. I was open minded.
What is the most valuable thing you have received from Toastmasters?
The opportunity to speak in a non-judgmental environment and at the same time get very valuable feedback.
If someone were considering joining Toastmasters and they asked you "Why Toastmasters?" What would you tell them?
The same answer as above … the opportunity to speak …
If someone had decided to join Toastmasters and they asked you "Why Big "D" Toastmasters?" What would you tell them?
The energy, the friendship, the high caliber of professionals, the humor and the fun and at the same time the club abided by the rules and procedures of the Toastmasters Guidelines.
