A Timely Theme of Unforgettable Mentors ...

Last weeks meeting began at 6:30pm with John Sessions presiding. Paul Carter was toastmaster and the theme was "Unforgettable Mentors".

During the business session Paul announced the names of the members of the nomination committee who would assist him in the search for new officer candidates. The Nominating Committee consists of Paul Carter, John Sessions, Eric Dyson, and Katherine Gean. The recommendations from the Nominating Committee will be presented on Thursday, November 15th, during the regular business session. Members will note that elections will be held on November 29th and the officer installation party is tentatively scheduled for Dec 20th.

We welcomed several guests - Guests of John Lawson and my mom Eveline. Eric Dyson drew the attention of the members to the condition of Therese Rockwell's son Truman. Our heartfelt prayers are with Therese as we wait for good news.

John Lawson made his first appearance as Table Topics Master and immediately had us attempting to imbibe the art of thinking and speaking on ones feet.

After the break, we had four excellent speeches; from Bryan - on the Inca trail, Hut - on the Salem witch hunt, Eric - a story of the scorpion and the frog, and Angelo - on being an organ donor. Evaluating them were Keith, Qibin, Kathy, and Ginny. Awards went to Regina - Best TT, Bryan - Best Speaker, Keith - Best Evaluator and John Sessions for Toastmaster of the Evening.

The meeting ended at 8:40 pm with the awards presented to the winners!

Snippets from the meeting:
There was a debate on the correct pronunciation of the word imbibe.
The debate was settled by our grammarian Renita after the meeting. It is pronounced with an "I" sound rather than an "E" sound.
