Entrance to Yellowstone National Park ...

Our August 16th meeting had Keith Moore making his grand debut as Toastmaster. Keith's theme was "Yellowstone - America's First National Park". Keith intends to visit the park shortly and used his TM debut to inform members about the park's history and attractions.

Bryan informed us about the first edition of the club newsletter. And yes! I did receive it as promised. We had one new member join us. Woo-Hoo... Abraham. We look forward to your ice breaker soon Abe! Angelo Pereira was featured in the member spotlight section and Therese had members in a tizzy with her table topics questions.

We had 2 very exciting ice breaker speeches from Pete Henning and John Lawson. Pete's headline was "Change is the essence of renewal" while John told us about his mentor and the learning he received that he intends to give others now. Renita followed up her fiery ice breaker with another delightful speech "Lift Every Voice and Speak: Three Tips for Tuning the Instrument of Voice". Finally, Eric delivered a winning proposal with his "Embrace the Mentor Program" speech.

Paul Carter was the General Evaluator. Individual evaluators were Cliff evaluating Pete, Jim evaluating John, Katherine evaluating Renita and John Sessions evaluating Eric.

Awards went to Danni for Best Table Topics, Renita for Best Speaker, Katherine for Best Evaluator and John Lawson for Toastmaster of the Evening! As usual we had visitors, returning visitors and guests of visitors - Eric Hernandez, Frank, Alvaro, Kumar Parthasarthy and Alvin.

Our growth and influx of guests and visitors is not a stroke of luck but the harvest of a conscientious effort at Big D! to reach out to the community and show them what TM can do for them. With 4 entertaining speeches our meeting ran a trifle over schedule and ended at 8:34 pm. Kudos to Keith and all supporting TMs for chipping in to make this happen. Snippets from the meeting:

"You cannot be diagnosed if you don't open your mouth"  - John Lawson
"Change is the essence of renewal" - Pete Henning
"It is better to be unborn than to be untaught" - John Lawson
"She could make a dollar holler" - Renita referring to her Dear Mom
