Lady Justice Looking Pretty Pleased ...
And she ought to! Our meeting this past Thursday (Aug. 9th) was attended by a class of Paralegals and their Instructor, Lisa Hannah. She teaches at Everest College here in Dallas located at the corner of Mockingbird and Central Expressway (75). She told John Sessions that an exposure to a vibrant Toastmaster's Club would be part of a good education for them as they would see people give prepared speeches and also speak extemporaneously.
They arrived en masse, we had a packed house, and what a great night it was. The business session went along quickly without much delay (that due, in part, to the fact that Cliff, Mac, and John Checki were not in attendance). We received one new member (David Meddart), Ping Gui led Table Topics for the first time (great job!), and we heard three prepared speeches and evaluations.
Abraham Hernandez returned as a second time guest and he brought his friend and co-worker Agnes along. Lisa's class was attentive, asked a bunch of questions, and even with all of that, your Club President was able to gavel the meeting closed four minutes early at 8:26pm!
That's just off the top of my head. I am awaiting the Secretary's report on all the workings of the meeting as well as the announcements.
Finally, for those of you visiting this blog for the first time ... WELCOME! We are receiving over 100 unique visitors every day. You are reading the blog of an extremely active and well-established Toastmaster's Club. We work hard at making our guests feel welcome. We meet every Thursday evening at 6:30pm ... look up top for the address. If you have never attended a Toastmasters meeting, then the Big D! Toastmasters Club is exactly where you need to be.
I'll be looking for you Thursday!
